Blueberry Boy Bait is everything a cake should be: golden, moist, studded with blueberries and finished with a generous sprinkling of cinnamon sugar. I’ve been wanting to make it for a while now, but unfortunately, cakes don’t go over too well in my house. Mike claims he doesn’t like cake and even though I do, giant cakes for one are never a good idea.

I’m always guaranteed two things while eating dinner at my in-law’s. 1) I’ll be stuffed with food, but won’t be able to resist one more bite and 2) I’ll get to hear some awesome anecdotes about my mother and father in-law’s lives back in Vietnam. One of my favourites is about my mother-in-law’s green onion corn stand.

I love cherries, especially cherry flavoured things. I know the general consensus is that cherry lollipops and cherry popsicles taste like cough medicine, but cherry happens to be my favourite of the artificial flavours. I love real cherries too and luckily, Vancouver is driving distance to the Okanagan, where there’s an abundance of fruit orchards.

I don’t think I’ve ever run across anyone who doesn’t love potatoes. One of the most—if not the most—versatile root vegetables, potatoes are simple, hearty and delicious. If you love roasted potatoes and have a little extra time on your hands, I definitely think you should give these potatoes a try!
