Hi y’all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this space – mostly I’m over at I am a Food Blog now, but I wanted to share some exciting news…I wrote a cookbook! And it’s available now for preorder!

It’s been just over a year since I conceptualized, cooked, tested, styled, and shot all the recipes in Easy Gourmet. I’ve been skirting around it for a while now, but THE DAY IS COMING (September 2nd!!) and I want to tell you all about it!

It’s called Easy Gourmet and it’s full of deliciously easy foods that are a bit dressed up.

Some of my absolute favourites are: the buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, the lemony bone marrow pasta, the maple glazed duck with sriracha honeyed carrots, the shrimp salad rolls, the miso glazed eggplant, the banh mi pulled pork sliders and the deep-fried calamari and bacon. But really, everything is delicious and fun because that’s what cooking is about, right?

Confession

I confess: I eat Chicken McNuggets with smiling faces and I love doing it! The real question is: do the faces make you want to eat Chicken McNuggets anymore than you normally do?

I’ve really been struggling with the blog lately. I feel like it’s been uninspired and well, let’s face it, flat. Don’t get me wrong, I love cooking, taking photos and even writing, but somehow without an end goal I feel just a little bit funny. I guess I’m just one of those people who needs to work towards something.

Porto’s

One of our good friends is a consultant. I’m not too sure what this means or what he does on a day to day basis, even though he’s explained it to me multiple times. What I do know is that he travels a lot, which means he gets to do what I like to call “travel eating.”

No Knead Bread Recipe

There’s nothing quite like the smell of baking bread. It fills your house with the promise of all things good, cozy and warm. Even though my mom didn’t bake bread all that much while I was growing up, the smell of freshly baked bread hits me with nostalgia every time.
