Leftover Fridays: New Redesign, Google Searches, and Blog Love

The Waffleburger by Waffleizer

It’s looking a bit spiffier around here, thanks to the new redesign: easy on the eyes and easy to navigate!

Introducing Leftover Fridays

The thrill of Fridays are an unadulterated source of joy in my life. Other sources include: noodles, fried chicken, things that make me laugh and food blogs. Leftover Fridays will be a mash-up of food blogs and things that make me chuckle. If there was someway to transport noodles and fried chicken through a screen, I’d do that too, but until then, let’s stick with some blog love, humour and some good old fashioned food porn.

Google Searches: Have you ever been in the middle of a Google search when Google suggests something totally hilarious and off base? Type in something random and see what kind of real-time suggestion you get. These Google searches are real! Sometimes, just for kicks, I check out which Google searches are bringing people to Momofuku for 2.

Are you allowed to drink cooking sake?
Yes, you can, but I don’t think you want to.

Momofuku Costco
Can you imagine frozen pork buns at Costco? Just steam and serve!

Boiling bacon bones
I wasn’t even aware bacon had bones.

Blog Love: Awesome blogs deserve love! I’ll share my love for a new blog every Friday.

He’s all over the net and it’s thanks to him that I can’t stop thinking about waffles. You might know him: he’s the waffleizer. Thirty answers to will it waffle is his blog in a nutshell, but his blog is so much more than Belgian and Leige waffles, it’s bibimbap, burgers, and bread pudding. The man has me constantly thinking: will it waffle? The answer, according to Dan, “yes, it waffles!”

In honour of waffleizer I made waffle cinnamon sugar dipped french toast this week (picture after the jump)

Let me know what you think of the new redesign! Like it? Hate it? Comment it up!

  1. Love the new blog design. Very clean, easy to read. Beautiful. And now I’m craving waffles. Drats.

  2. The design appears broken to me using Firefox 3.6. Bummah.

Just wondering, have you ever visited the site before? if so, its probably a cached CSS file. Try shift+refresh (Windows:F5 /Apple + R)?

  3. Mmm that looks delicious! Love the Waffleizer also!

  4. I like the new layout! :)

  5. I have to admit that it’s a little like suddenly being able to look at yourself without a mirror — the L-R flipping caught me by surprise!

But switching sides aside, you have a beautiful site! What platform do you use to create your site? I’d love to be able to make a site that’s as beautiful and accessible as yours is!

Hi Patricia, thanks for the kind words – momofukufor2 is built on WordPress

  6. Yes loving the new blog look – and can’t wait to see what google searches lead to you blog – I can imagine some really funny ones! Uhmm like David Chang’s buns?

Trissa, I can imagine that now. How does David Chang get his buns so smooth and white?

  7. I need to get on the whole waffle express train. My waffle iron is currently 90 miles away, and the house I live in isn’t a sweets house. But maybe if I can convince them that you can waffle a burger, I could finally get some serious wafflin’ done.

  8. Hmmm… I THOUGHT that photo looked familiar. And the site design does look great.
